The e-bike is becoming increasingly popular - also for men. Here you can find out what the most important features of an electric bike are for men and what tricks you can use to easily find the perfect bike for you when buying one.
These characteristics make bikes for men
Of course, the cliché of the "ladies' bike" with the low frame bar still exists today - but in reality, that's long gone. Most bikes, including e-bikes, are now designed as unisex bikes. Which entry height and bar shape you prefer is purely a matter of taste - the design says nothing about whether the bike was originally intended for men or women.
However, there are still some aspects that can make a bike particularly interesting for men:
The height
The vast majority of electric bikes today are fully height adjustable, and our folding bikes are that way anyway. However, it is still important that you ideally try out what seat height and frame size is most comfortable for you before making a purchase decision. Then you can specifically look for bikes that can be adjusted to this height and no longer have to worry about the wrong height. This also guarantees that your bike rides are both ergonomic for your back and joints and comfortable.
City, country, terrain
Depending on where you are traveling with your e-bike, you will probably have different needs. E-bikes for men are generally versatile, but most models are still optimized for one area of use. There are bikes with particularly wide and robust tires that are particularly suitable for use in terrain, including off-road. Other models are equipped with particularly powerful motors that make them suitable for long distances. Still other models are specially designed for road and city traffic and offer the highest level of comfort, for example for sporty commuters.
The drive
This aspect of the e-bike is also a matter of taste. You can choose between a drive on the front wheel, one on the rear wheel and a motor in the middle of the bike. The mid-engine is the most commonly available variant - and rightly so, because it is an absolute all-rounder. However, there are some differences between the motors:
Front wheel motors used to be more common, but that has changed. Not only is a front wheel motor not particularly pleasant when you accelerate, but it can also be a serious danger under certain circumstances (especially on loose surfaces). That's why they are rarely installed these days and we don't sell them.
The mid-engine is - as already mentioned - an absolute all-rounder. However, it is particularly suitable for steep inclines. Thanks to the derailleur gears, it can be kept in its optimal range for longer than other drive variants - but this wears out the chain and pinion significantly more than is the case with a rear hub motor.
Are you more into off-road riding and are you looking for a motor that can handle even the most demanding routes? Then you need a bike with rear-wheel drive! These models are the ideal e-bikes for men who want the mountain bike experience - even without a lot of physical effort. This type of motor has the least chain wear of all models and also has a built-in tailwind, making for an extremely pleasant ride.
The material
E-bikes are usually made of carbon or aluminum. Both carbon and aluminum are light and easy to transport. Steel frames were also used in the past, but these have long since ceased to be standard. Aluminum frames are - as mentioned - very light and they also cannot rust.
The most important points summarized
The classic e-bike for men, as you might imagine, does not exist, as e-bikes should not be differentiated by gender, but by design, equipment and accessories.
However, there are some important features that you should pay attention to to make buying your e-bike easier. These include the entry height and the saddle height that are most comfortable for you. The drive is particularly important, as this will have the greatest influence on the ideal area of use for your electric bike.
