We will explain to you which aspects are important when calculating the size of your bike and how you can easily calculate the right frame size.
Calculating the size of your bike plays an important role, whether you want to buy a road bike or are interested in a mountain bike. The frame should fit your height so that you can have fun with your new e-bike and comfortably explore the city or the country.
The frame size of a bicycle defines the distance between the center of the bottom bracket and the top of the seat tube. The bottom bracket is the central axis of rotation of the bicycle to which the pedals are attached. The size of the bicycle frame is often given in inches, with one inch equal to 2.54 centimeters. The frame size is important to ensure a comfortable sitting position and to prevent tension and pain while riding.
The easiest way to calculate the size of your bike is to determine your stride length. A well-known method for determining this is the following:
Tip: For an accurate result, you should take off your shoes and pants. It is even easier if a second person takes the measurements.
Once you have measured your stride length, you can multiply the result by the appropriate factors to get a guideline for the frame height.
Since the frame size has a decisive influence on the seating position and thus on the riding comfort, it should be calculated depending on the model.
If you want to buy a mountain bike online, calculate the frame size using the following calculation:
Inseam in cm x 0.5875 = guideline for frame height
You can find the right size for a city or trekking bike using the following factor:
Inseam in cm x 0.675 = guideline for frame height
If you want to buy a racing bike, you can calculate the right size using this formula:
Inseam in cm x 0.5875 = guideline for frame height
Note: If you want to calculate the size for your bike in inches, you have to divide the value of the above calculations by the factor 2.54.
To make it easier to determine the size, many manufacturers have their frame sizes in S, M, L and XL. This is particularly practical if you want to buy your e-bike online. Our myvélo frames are also divided into these sizes so that you can keep track of things in our online shop. You can find the appropriate values in the following table:

If you want to buy your e-bike online, there are various ways to calculate the right size for your bike. A common method is to measure your inseam. You can then multiply the determined value by various factors to optimally adjust the frame size to the different models:
Mountain bike: stride length in cm x 0.5875
Road bike: stride length in cm x 0.675
City and trekking bike: stride length in cm x 0.5875
It is even easier if you compare your height with the manufacturer's information. Manufacturers often differentiate between sizes S, M, L and XL for their frames, which makes buying an e-bike online even easier. Frame size S is suitable for a height of 150 to 165 cm. If you are between 165 and 180 cm tall, your frame size is M. If you are between 180 and 195 cm tall, you sit best on a frame size L. Size XL is suitable for a height of 195 cm and above.
If you pay attention to the appropriate sizes before buying, your e-bike will give you a lot of joy.
