Cornering lights are a special lighting technology in which the illumination of the light automatically adjusts when cornering and when the incline changes. As with a car, the light shines in the direction the bike is turning and ensures that the rider has better visibility when cornering. Cornering lights help to identify dangers and obstacles earlier, especially in the dark or in poor lighting conditions. Cornering lights are now a popular feature for e-bikes, which are often used in urban and mountainous environments where tight curves and changing terrain alternate.
The cornering light on an e-bike is usually based on a sensor-controlled lighting unit. Sensors detect the inclination or steering movements of the bike and control the light accordingly. In tighter curves or with a sharper steering angle, the light automatically adjusts the angle of illumination so that the illuminated area is moved to where the rider is going. This makes the surroundings more visible and the rider has the best possible field of vision in every position.

Dynamic LED systems: Some cornering light systems consist of dynamic LEDs that adjust to the direction of travel. The LEDs can be switched so that they only light up slightly when the steering wheel is turned slightly, but more intensely when the steering wheel is turned sharply.
Combination of long and short beam: Another option is the combination of long and short beam, which is more or less focused depending on the radius of the curve. This method provides optimal illumination for short and long fields of vision and is increasingly being installed in high-quality e-bikes.

Some e-bike models allow you to retrofit cornering lights, provided the bike has the necessary connections and a compatible lighting unit. Before buying a cornering light kit, it is advisable to check whether the system you have chosen is suitable for the electrical and mechanical conditions of your e-bike. Alternatively, it can be installed in an e-bike workshop.
